Rouran JinjaRouran Shrine is the second song of Ema ni Negai wo! (Prologue Edition). It immediately follows Hoshizora e to Tsuzuku SakamichiThe Slope Leading Towards the Starry Sky. There are four versions of the song: one with two guitar solos and one with a piano and violin solo, and then each of those is either narrated by Akio Otsuka or Rika Fukami. The version received is random, and all versions are equally likely. Once the song finishes, it continues into the next song, Yoru no Ingou ga Miseta YumeDreams Brought by the Night’s Karma, with a 0.1% chance of encountering its death ending version instead.

Lyrics

One, bow when you cross the Torii.
Two, tread not upon the middle of the Sando.
Three, halt! Do not just ignore the Temizu-ya.
Four, oops, you just dropped your Omamori...and accidentally stepped on it!
Five, do not simply throw your Osaisen like that!
Six, and of course, you shouldn’t ring the bell so violently!
Seven, if this were any ordinary shrine, two-bows-two-claps is an acceptable choice. But try to at least maintain some form of composure.

Bestow upon me cleansing, bestow upon me purification,
grant me thine divine protection and blessing.

Eight, it’s fine to say your prayers out loud. But this time’s an exception.

Please cure my father’s illness. Please cure my father’s illness.
Please cure my father’s illness. Please cure my father’s illness.
Please cure my father’s illness. Please cure my f-father’s illness.
Please cure my father’s illness. Please cure my father’s illness.

Hey, woman.

Huh!? God!? Or...just a pervert...

Did you just say something incredibly rude? ...oh well.
You only need to think when you communicate with me.

Huh!? What do you mean? What’s going on!?

OK! Well, this is going to be a loooong story, so let’s use the vertical bearer of time to cover these explanations!

Chronus
is
woven

And there you have it! O, newly appointed shrine maiden, try saying your prayers with eight-bows-eight-claps!

If I do as you say..my father will get better, right?

Of course! YES WE CAN!

Sounds fishy…
But I guess I’ll give it a try.

At last, the Okami descends upon this ⛩️orizon!

W-what is this flashy display?
Shrine 2: Electric boogaloo!?
And these komainu are...howling?
It’s getting all smoky in here too, what the!!
The torii is different...and the main shrine is glowing!?
This isn’t the Hiashi Hiyama shrine!
Ah, ah, aaahhhhhh!!!

Wait,
I was born and raised in-

Rouran Shrine

Around fifteenth anniversary. The prologue of a long journey has begun.
The meaning of having been born. The meaning of having died.
The <chasm between past and future>[present] that someone wished for.
The Eight-Million <messages>.

Fantasy musical picture scroll.
The 8.5th or perhaps the 7.5th ⛩️orizon.
(The 7.5th or perhaps the 8.5th ⛩️orizon.)
Pour your wishes into the Ema!

Ah, can <the possibility of a story leading towards ...>[roman] be found there?

O, the great Rouran Okami
Overflowing is thine divinity
We lay ourselves bare before thine presence
With reverent awe

Unto our undeserving selves
We accept thine divine blessing
Bearing utmost gratitude
And respect in our hearts

Oh? You don’t know what I’m saying?
Did you really grow up in a shrine?
I mean, that’s just how it goes in Norito.
Moving on, you have a part to play in the next verse!

We implore thee to take pity on this woman
Sakuya Himeko
“My name is Sakuya Himeko…”
A humble servant in front of thine divine presence
We beseech thee with reverent awe
To cleanse her father of his ailments
“Please cure my father’s illness. Please cure my father’s illness. Please cure my father’s illness. Please cure my father’s illness.”

Aaand that’s the end of that!
I went over this in our previous explanation with the aid of the vertical string, but let me just go over it again.

So, to give a simple revenge recap
As long as you serve the gods faithfully
Everyone’s wishes will come true <with no one any worse off>[win-win happy]
Somewhere, someone is shouting

Offer up those feelings to the gods!

Pour our wishes into the Ema!

O, the myriad gods of fantasy
Overflowing with divinity
The Rouran Gods
With a stroke of their interpretation, ⛩️orizons are painted over
And guided to alternative conclusions

These divine beings that you are now bound to
Can defy and twist divine providence at the shortest notice

They will definitely grant
The prayers and fervent wishes
Of their faithful*

*Acts of the divine may differ from personal expectations.

This new shrine that you now serve in
With your duties engraved upon this stone monument

Will guide the ⛩️orizon
With dark eyes
And red light

Gather up the wishing stars in dusk
And release the light

In order to <deny>[save] you someday

All together-
The
omnipotent
gods
descend
from
heaven
on
high
|
Boundless in wisdom
The Rouran Gods
At their whims, fate is rewritten
And steered towards their desired outcome

As such...tracing the melody of words…
They roam faraway lands
Rouran Zuijin
Through analysis, they leap over phenomena
Towards yet unseen endings

Towards the beginning of Cycles[Rinne]
The meaning of having been born. The meaning of having died.
