The Miniature Garden within the Cage (in Japanese 檻の中の箱庭, Ori no Naka no Hakoniwa) is the opening track of the ninth story album Nein. The song is in a techno and disco style, sung by R.E.V.O. (Revo) and supported by Fuki as SCHau, Yuri Komagata as RÖhre, Mari Yura as DINg, and Hana Inoue as GERät. As in most releases since Roman, this first song establishes overarching themes of the album through a Revo character.

Summary

Opening the Ninth Horizon, the Remarkable, Evolutionary and Valuable Optical-device (R.E.V.O) awakens to question itself and contemplates the nature of sleep as a form of death and vice versa; and whether it is the same after each slumber. It asks what purpose is behind its birth and continued existence, and what purpose is behind the world's creation and continued existence. R.E.V.O. determines to search for different possibilities in its "Lord's" stories, as a comfort to itself - to guide them to different, happier ends. The cats SCHau, RÖhre, DINg, and GERät further introduce the Horizon as that which denies phenomena, upon which will be shown stories that go against life's predestined paths. R.E.V.O. reaffirms its aims and finally resolves to turn the starry skies into song.
